Job Description

At INFINITEK, we’re thrilled to partner with one of our global mining clients in search of an experienced Diesel Technician. This role will involve performing essential maintenance tasks, both in the shop and out in the field, covering preventive and predictive maintenance on mobile and stationary mining equipment, light vehicles, and support equipment.

Responsibilities of a Diesel Technician:

  • Rebuild components of mine and construction equipment, including powertrain, final drive, brakes, and suspension systems.
  • Troubleshoot and repair mining and support equipment in the field.
  • Diagnose and repair hydraulic systems used in mining equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and repair 12/24-volt electrical systems.
  • Diagnose and repair electrical systems on diesel-electric haulage and loading equipment like Komatsu, Liebherr haul trucks and LeTourneau loaders, or similar machinery.
  • Work on air and hydraulic brake systems for mining, construction, or comparable equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and repair diesel engines (Cat, Cummins, Detroit, MTU).
  • Accurately complete daily repair reports detailing the work performed.
  • Communicate job status to the incoming shift mechanics and shop supervisors.
  • Operate maintenance diagnostic systems and shop computers.

Qualifications and Competencies to be a Diesel Technician:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience working on mining equipment.
  • Ability to interpret maintenance manuals and parts schematics.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical maintenance skills.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Maintain Mine Safety & Health Administration (MSHA) certification.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
