Sr Real Estate Counsel - Rapidly Growing Commercial Real Estate Firm

Our client, a rapidly expanding and vertically integrated commercial real estate firm with a $1+ billion valuation, is seeking a Senior Real Estate Counsel to join their dynamic team. With over 200 buildings in their portfolio and an impressive annual growth rate exceeding 20%, this firm is at the forefront of shaping the future of commercial real estate in the region.

As the Senior Real Estate Counsel, you will be a key legal leader providing strategic guidance and managing legal risks across the firm's real estate operations. You will play an instrumental role in the continued growth and success of the business, working closely with the CEO and senior leadership team in a high-growth, fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert legal counsel on various real estate matters, including acquisitions, dispositions, leasing, development, and financing.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate key contracts, leases, and other real estate documents.
  • Advise on complex transactions and corporate matters, addressing title, zoning, environmental, and land use concerns.
  • Manage relationships with external legal counsel and coordinate legal resources across departments.
  • Collaborate with senior management to create and execute legal strategies in alignment with business objectives.
  • Stay updated on legal developments to ensure compliance with laws and regulations.
  • Handle dispute resolution and manage litigation related to real estate matters.
  • Assist with corporate governance, risk management, and strategic planning initiatives within the real estate domain.

Qualifications:

  • JD from an accredited law school.
  • 5+ years of experience in real estate law, specifically in commercial transactions, leasing, acquisitions, and development.
  • In-depth knowledge of California real estate laws and regulations.
  • Proven track record of negotiating high-value contracts and handling complex transactions.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience in a vertically integrated real estate firm or similar industry is highly desirable.
  • Active member of the California State Bar in good standing.
