Job Title: Materials Specialist
Location: Oakland, CA (HYBRID)

Description:

LOOKING FOR CANDIDATES CURRENTLY RESIDING LOCAL TO BAY AREA/WORK LOCATION AND WITHIN PG&E TERRITORY. ASSIGNMENT WILL BE REMOTE. CLIENT LAPTOP TO BE ISSUED.

MATERIAL PLANNING:

The Materials Planning team is the material supply and demand planning arm of the greater Supply Chain organization. The team is focused on forecasting material needs for the various client's functional areas (FA) to ensure adequate inventory is available to support new business construction, maintenance, and wildfire mitigation efforts.

Position Summary

This position is responsible for planning, setting, and managing the inventory levels at all materials locations, while working to align demand and supply plan forecasts to ensure sufficient material is on hand and on order to fulfill functional area job needs.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee supply planning function for a complex and diverse set of materials
  • Maintain SAP planning parameters in alignment with forecasts that achieve target fill rate and inventory turnover performance.
  • Follow up with Project Managers and Field Engineers to assure that purchase requisitions are submitted with adequate lead time for delivery, purchase orders are placed in a timely fashion through SAP and follow material through the delivery.
  • Closely coordinate and communicate allocation plans with functional areas in the event of material shortages.
  • Partner with our demand planning principal and use gathered intelligence to work with suppliers to secure production reservations to assure that reliable sources of supply are maintained.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 3 - 6 years of equivalent experience in Sourcing or Materials
  • Must be able to engage the client at the director level, perform critical analysis and anticipate issues
  • Experience in and ability to negotiate solutions to complex problems; and lead the implementation of those solutions
  • Understanding of procurement processes, policies, procedures and contract law
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship management skills; strong team player
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Proven cost evaluation and negotiation skills
  • Supplier Diversity understanding with strong client focus
  • MS Office (Fluent in the uses of Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project, Visio)

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, supply chain management (or related industry experience) or MBA
  • Construction Project Management experience
  • Six Sigma training
  • Utility industry experience a plus
  • SAP/SRM Master Level experience
