Job Description

Chikaming Country Club is seeking a passionate and highly skilled Executive Sous Chef to join our team and assist in leading our dynamic culinary operations. 

Chikaming Country Club is an exclusive private country club, located in Lakeside Michigan. The Club is an hour and 15 minutes from Chicago and Grand Rapids. The Club is open from May to the end of November. This is 7 and half month job starting Mid-April and runs into the first week of December. Great opportunity for a culinary driven individual who is looking to improve their skills and grow in the private club industry. Benefits include five-day work weeks, health insurance stipend, 401 after one year of service, end of season holiday bonus, ability to collect unemployment during closed season, golf privileges. This is a great job for someone that likes the warm northern months during the summer and then can head south and work for a few months in the warm climate in the south during the winter months. Position Summary: 

The Executive Sous Chef supports the Executive Chef in overseeing daily culinary operations, ensuring 

the highest standards of food quality, safety, and service. This role is integral to delivering memorable 

dining experiences for our members and guests through innovative menu creation, staff training, and 

meticulous attention to detail. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, leads by example, 

and inspires a team of culinary professionals. 

Key Responsibilities: 

• Collaborate with the Executive Chef to uphold and enhance the club’s reputation for exceptional 

dining. 

• Supervise food preparation, production, and presentation across all dining rooms, events, and 

catering functions. 

• Train, develop, and motivate kitchen staff, ensuring consistent performance and professional 

growth. 

• Assist with menu development, pricing strategies, and the introduction of innovative culinary 

techniques. 

• Ensure compliance with all food safety, sanitation, and public health regulations. 

• Monitor kitchen operations, including staffing, inventory management, and cost controls. 

• Maintain a clean, organized, and well-equipped kitchen environment. 

• Lead the team during the Executive Chef’s absence and contribute to special events or when 

short-staffed. 

• Stay current with culinary trends, sourcing new ingredients, and researching modern preparation 

and presentation methods. 

Qualifications: 

• Degree in Culinary Arts or a certified chef-training program is a plus. 

• 5–8 years of progressive culinary management experience. 

• Exceptional leadership, communication, and organizational skills. 

• Expertise in fine dining, food presentation, and innovative cooking techniques. 

• Thorough knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and health regulations. 

• Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities in high-pressure environments.
