Visit French Lick West Baden is the official Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB) for Orange County, Indiana, dedicated to promoting the region as a premier destination for visitors, businesses, and events. Nestled in the heart of Southern Indiana, our area is home to the historic French Lick Resort and West Baden Springs Hotel, world-class golf courses, scenic outdoor adventures, and a vibrant arts and cultural scene.

Through innovative marketing, strategic partnerships, and destination development, we work to make French Lick and West Baden a must-visit location while preserving the area’s history and natural beauty.

Position Overview:

The Director of Marketing and Development is responsible for developing and executing marketing strategies that drive sales, increase visitor engagement, and positions French Lick West Baden as a premier travel destination. This role will oversee marketing campaigns, digital engagement, and strategic partnerships to increase tourism and economic impact.

This role offers opportunities for regional and U.S. travel to represent Visit French Lick West Baden at trade shows, conferences, and industry networking events.

Key Responsibilities:

Marketing & Brand Strategy:

  • Develop and implement marketing campaigns to promote French Lick West Baden as a leading travel destination.
  • Oversee digital marketing efforts, including website management, social media, email campaigns, and content creation.
  • Manage relationships with advertising agencies, PR firms, media partners, and vendors.
  • Track and analyze campaign performance using metrics, KPIs, and visitor data insights.
  • Collaborate with local businesses, influencers, and media outlets to enhance brand visibility.

Public Relations & Community Engagement:

  • Serve as the public face of Visit French Lick West Baden for media interviews, press events, and community engagements.
  • Develop strong relationships with local businesses, government agencies, tourism partners, and regional stakeholders.
  • Create and distribute press releases, media kits, and destination promotional materials.
  • Organize familiarization (FAM) tours, site visits, and press trips for travel media and influencers.

Event & Tourism Promotions:

  • Plan and execute special events, promotions, and marketing activations to increase visitor engagement.
  • Work with entertainment groups to attract regional events.
  • Partner with local businesses, hotels, and attractions to create seasonal promotions and tourism packages.
  • Develop strategies to enhance the visitor experience, wayfinding, and on-site engagement.

Destination Development:

  • Support sales staff in execution of strategies to attract group travel, meetings, conventions, and special events.
  • Represent the destination at tradeshows, networking events, and tourism industry conferences.
  • Work with local businesses and hospitality partners to create tourism packages and promotional deals.
  • Conduct market research to identify emerging tourism trends, competitor analysis, and visitor insights.
  • Work alongside group sales and community engagement liaison to ensure leisure, business, and group travelers experience all that the destination has to offer. 

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Hospitality, Tourism, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in marketing, sales, development, destination management, or hospitality/tourism industry.
  • Proven experience in destination marketing, hotel/hospitality sales, or event/convention sales.
  • Strong understanding of digital marketing, social media strategy, and public relations.
  • Strong ability to build and maintain partnerships with stakeholders, clients, and media.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Experience with content creation, website design, graphic design, mass media, and marketing campaigns.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certified Destination Management Executive (CDME), CMP, or other relevant industry certification.
  • Experience working with CRM software, tourism analytics, and lead generation tools.
  • Familiarity with hotel and venue sales, group travel marketing, and sponsorships.
  • Knowledge of Indiana tourism, regional travel trends, and economic development.
  • Experience working with Destination Marketing Organizations (DMOs) or CVBs.
