Parish Business Manager-Bookkeeper

Position Overview: St. Raymond’s Church is seeking a full-time Parish Business Manager- Bookkeeper to support the financial and administrative needs of the Parish. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, proficiency in bookkeeping, and the ability to handle confidential matters with professionalism and discretion. This position reports directly to the Pastor or his designee.

Key Responsibilities: Job Responsibilities Include but are not limited to:

- Oversee repairs, renovations and capital projects in accordance with Diocesan policies, including coordinating with Contractors and the Diocesan Facilities Office.

- Handle situations of confidential nature and assist in designated administrative details using initiative and judgment.

- Must become familiar with Diocesan and Parish Policies, organization, and procedures, including the Diocesan Administrative Policies Manual.

- To be a full charge bookkeeper with the ability to work with and maintain a complete set of books such as, cash receipts and cash disbursement journals, general journals, general ledgers, and subsidiary ledgers, and prepare financial reports using the QuickBooks Accounting Program .

- Will work closely with Pastor, Finance Council, Parish Auditors, and Trustees.

- Must attend Parish quarterly Finance Council meetings, and may be requested to attend occasional other meetings which take place outside of “regular” business hours (on evenings & weekends).

- Will be responsible for preparing and entering the annual budget for the Parish and the annual financial report for the Parish along with the Accountant and Auditors as required by the Diocese, adhering to due dates set the Diocese.

 - Will be responsible to post and pay bills, make deposits, reconcile bank statements, post payroll, and maintain financial information files, including filing paid invoices and updating file folders.

- Support Parish ministries and groups, including tasks related to tuition subsidies, Parish bulletins, and human resources.

- Direct the management of the Parish office, and, as needed, assist with administrative duties, including booking Masses, filing, and supporting Parish events and programs (e.g., funeral protocol, Parish registers, games of chance, and other fundraisers).

- Will perform other related work as required.

Education, Training and/or Expertise:

- Minimum of 3 years’ experience performing classic bookkeeping duties in either a for-profit or not-for-profit work environment.

- Formal coursework in bookkeeping and/or accounting is necessary.

- Proficiency in QuickBooks , MSOffice (Spreadsheets) and Google.

- Strong phone etiquette and customer service skills.

- Work must be accurate, neat and well organized.

- Ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks effectively.

- Strong confidentiality and trustworthiness. 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent
  • 3+ years' of relevant work experience
  • General business skills including budget preparation, and comfort with computers
  • Requires reasoning ability and good independent judgment
