Summary

We are recruiting a dynamic Business Development Manager specializing in full truckload services with a focus on project freight and drayage solutions. The ideal candidate will leverage their industry knowledge and existing relationships to drive sales and expand our client base, particularly in port cities. This role requires a strong commitment to collaboration, fostering a positive company culture while maintaining resilience and competitiveness in a high-performance environment.

The Business Development Manager will engage in prospecting activities, develop account relationships, and partner with internal operations teams to create tailored solutions for customers. We seek an individual with 5-10 years of freight sales experience and a proven track record of success, complemented by strong interpersonal skills and a passion for building relationships. Primary Responsibilities

  • Leverage industry knowledge and existing relationships to drive sales and build a client base.
  • Sell full truckload services with a focus on project freight and drayage solutions.
  • Collaborate with the internal team to foster a strong company culture and teamwork.
  • Engage with clients in port cities and understand their specific logistical needs.
  • Maintain a high level of resilience and competitiveness in a high-performance sales environment.
  • Attend regular in-office meetings to build relationships with internal teams and ensure alignment with company goals.
  • Prospect for new customers via phone (cold calls), internet, dormant CRM accounts, referrals, trade shows, and networking.
  • Identify and generate new sales opportunities through mining, analysis, and discovery.
  • Identify opportunities to further penetrate accounts by selling a diverse service portfolio.
  • Visit prospective clients and present an overview of the company.
  • Partner with internal operations teams to create solutions based on customer needs, including appropriate pricing strategies, solution implementation, and future customer growth.
  • Develop account relationships with contacts at multiple levels within customer organizations.
  • Work with accounting to set up new clients (credit, billing, instructions, etc.).

Education, Skills, and Experience

  • 3-7 years of experience in freight sales, specifically in full truckload operations.
  • Proven track record of sales success with a robust book of business and client relationships.
  • Background in logistics or operations, with the ability to understand and discuss industry-specific terminology.
  • Experience in selling project freight and drayage services.
  • Knowledge of port cities and the logistics challenges they present.
  • Competitive spirit or background preferred, aligning with a high-performance culture.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, emphasizing humility and a team-oriented mindset.
