The vibrant Village of Key Biscayne, incorporated on June 18, 1991, is in the center 1.25 square miles of a four-mile-long, two-mile-wide barrier island between the Atlantic Ocean and Biscayne Bay. To achieve our objectives, the Village of Key Biscayne is seeking an Assistant to the Village Manager who will serve as the executive assistant to the Village Manager by aiding in the optimization of time, energy, and focus; managing government and legislative affairs; supporting the Village resident services program; and performing special projects directly supporting the Village Manager’s strategic vision and objectives. The Assistant to the Village Manager will also help develop, implement, and monitor the Administration’s vision of creating a community that enjoys a high quality of life, a thriving and vibrant village-lifestyle and a stronger, more resilient future.
As the Assistant to the Village Manager , you will provide a full range of highly complex executive-level support and will be responsible for providing analytical and organizational assistance to the Village Manager. In this critical position, you will execute assigned duties in a sensitive and rapidly changing environment and perform intricate, diverse, and confidential, strategic and administrative duties involving and interacting with the Village’s top executives, Village Council, top officials of other governmental agencies, appointed boards and committees, community organizations, interest groups and residents.
• Executive Level Assistance : Provides direct support and optimizes the Village Manager’s time, energy and focus to assist in achieving the Village’s strategic vision
• Government and Legislative Affairs : Manages regional intergovernmental relationships and state and federal legislative agendas to support Village goals and objectives
• Resident Services : Assists in implementing and evaluating the Village’s resident experience and service program to provide impeccable and timely customer service to all residents
• Executive Level Special Projects : conducts research, analysis and special projects directly supporting the Village Manager’s strategic vision and objectives
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
• A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in public administration, business administration, or a related field. A master’s degree in a related field is desirable.
• Five years of increasingly responsible technical, administrative and analytical experience within a local government or similar environment including two years of supervisory experience. Experience in a municipal government setting dealing with elected and appointed officials is highly desirable.
• Must be fluent in the English language. Ability to communicate in Spanish is a plus.
